The Sundown Roughnecks were the 52-44 winner over the Ropes Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Sundown fell 47-37 to Ropes on Friday. Sundown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sundown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aria Hogan, who scored 13 points along with six blocks. Hogan hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie McCormick, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Sundown's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Ropes, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sundown will take on Post at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Post will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1285th, while Sundown is ranked 514th). As for Ropes, they will be playing at home against Seagraves at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Seagraves comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
