The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders won the last time they faced the Festus Tigers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Saxony Lutheran walked away with a 56-47 victory over Festus. Given Saxony Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Festus is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saxony Lutheran got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rebecca Johnson out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abigail Haley, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Saxony Lutheran has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Festus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
Saxony Lutheran will play host again and welcome Kennett, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kennett has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 287 points over their last four matchups. As for Festus, they will head out on the road to challenge Windsor on Thursday.
