River Valley is 0-5 against Yuma Catholic since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The River Valley Dust Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for River Valley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 86-68 loss to Tonopah Valley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Thursday (63), River Valley still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Yuma Catholic stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by American Leadership Academy - West Foothills on the road to the tune of 73-29. The win was familiar territory for Yuma Catholic who now have six in a row.
River Valley's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-9. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Yuma Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
River Valley took a serious blow against Yuma Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 87-27. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
