There's no place like home for the West Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Golden Valley by a score of 59-47 on Thursday. The win was just what West needed coming off of a 67-33 defeat in their prior matchup.
West's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fred Stokes, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jacob Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Golden Valley still got an impressive performance from Miguel Ceja, who scored 18 points along with six steals. Ceja is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Thomasson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Golden Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West pulled down 19 offensive rebounds.
West's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Golden Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Bakersfield the next time they take the court. Golden Valley will host East Bakersfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while West will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
