The Rabun County Wildcats had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 49-14 win over Social Circle on the road. Rabun County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.
Reid Giles was on fire: he rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Giles was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Truelove, who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Rabun County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Tucker Buchanan was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Social Circle's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sean Crews, who rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 188 yards and a touchdown. Jude Nelson was another key contributor, picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rabun County's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Social Circle, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-7.
Rabun County will head out on the road to face off against Whitefield Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitefield Academy will stroll in with a three game home winning streak, but they should still watch out: the last time they lost at home was their September 22 matchup with Rabun County. Social Circle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
