Gateway Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Roth, who scored 8 points. Rime Lamrabet was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Broadwater Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Smith, who scored 9 points along with 6 assists and 6 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Broadwater Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kacey Ford, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Broadwater Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway Christian will take on Suffolk Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Suffolk Christian Academy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Broadwater Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Arcadia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
