Lafayette Christian is 2-8 against Central Christian since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Lafayette Christian Cougars will get right back to it and host the Central Christian Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The timing is sure in Lafayette Christian's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Central Christian has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Lafayette Christian pushed their score all the way to 67 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 75-67 to Holy Ground Baptist Academy.
Despite the defeat, Lafayette Christian got a solid performance out of Bruno Tellez, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 58.2% of Lafayette Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Zapata, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Central Christian pushed their score all the way to 58 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-58 bruising from Trinity Christian School of Griffin.
Lafayette Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Central Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Lafayette Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Central Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 91-78. Does Lafayette Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
