Isabel Hernandez turned in yet another pitching appearance with more than nine strikeouts on Tuesday. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Considering she played a big game the last time she faced off against Cesar Chavez back in February of 2024, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Those hits were Hernandez's first of the season.

Hernandez's strong effort led Maryvale over Cesar Chavez and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Maryvale has some work to do to even out the 1-9 series between these two since April of 2018, but a win here would be a good start.
