Two dominant players in Alex Harper and Kason Beezer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Oviedo Lions will jump right back in to play the Cypress Creek Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Oviedo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
Oviedo has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Timber Creek as Oviedo made off with a 53-28 victory. Given Oviedo's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Timber Creek is ranked 554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oviedo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Bryant, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The matchup was Bryant's third in a row with at least ten points. Dominic Tejada was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, even though Horizon scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, Cypress Creek still came out on top. Cypress Creek sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 victory over Horizon. Cypress Creek didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Oviedo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Cypress Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Oviedo suffered a grim 64-39 defeat to Cypress Creek in their previous meeting back in January. Can Oviedo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
