This season hasn't been kind to the Corinth Holders Pirates, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were outmatched by Southern Lee at home and fell 71-43. While losing is never fun, Corinth Holders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Southern Lee is ranked 29th).
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Max Carlson, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Sparks, who scored 5 points.
Corinth Holders has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 0-6 record. As for Southern Lee, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corinth Holders will challenge Southeast Halifax at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southern Lee, they will head out on the road to face off against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Richmond has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 418 points over their last five matchups.
