On Saturday, the South Bison lost to the Stargate School Eagles on the road by a 80-63 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (55), the Bison still had to take the loss.

Connor Rusch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stargate School, going 10 of 20 on his way to 27 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Rusch has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristian Bennett, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with eight boards and three steals.
South's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Stargate School, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
South and Stargate School could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. South (ranked 43rd) will meet Laramie (ranked sixth) at 7:30 p.m. on January 15, 2025. Meanwhile, Stargate School (ranked 111th) will meet Highland (ranked seventh) at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
