Torrington is 2-8 against Rawlins since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Torrington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.
Torrington suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Douglas, falling 62-23. Torrington has not had much luck with Douglas recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Mac Hibben put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored eight points along with five rebounds. That was a full 34.8% of Torrington's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Rawlins beat Wheatland 55-44 on Saturday. The win was just what Rawlins needed coming off of a 69-42 loss in their prior matchup.
Rawlins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxson Allard, who scored 18 points. Jose Morales was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Torrington's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Rawlins, they pushed their record up to 5-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Torrington have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Rawlins, though, as they've been averaging only 20.4 rebounds per game. Given Torrington's sizeable advantage in that area, Rawlins will need to find a way to close that gap.
Torrington won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, slipping by Rawlins 58-57. Does Torrington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rawlins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
