Taft and Evanston are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will host the Wildkits at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Taft's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Evanston has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
Taft saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Glenbrook South by a score of 8-4.

Michaela Power was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jiovanna Landeen, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaida Matos, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Evanston came up short against Deerfield on Tuesday and fell 7-2.
Evanston saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Golem, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Evanston's loss dropped their record down to 1-16-1. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Evanston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Taft hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. It's a different story for Evanston, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Taft's hitters?
Taft was able to grind out a solid victory over Evanston when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 9-4. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildkits turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
