Liberty is 0-10 against Independence since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Liberty Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Independence Patriots at 5:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Liberty has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Independence will arrive with seven straight victories.
On Thursday, Liberty ended up a good deal behind Meadow Bridge and lost 62-43. Liberty has struggled against Meadow Bridge recently, as their game on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Independence didn't have too much trouble with Sherman on the road on Wednesday as they won 47-28. 47 seems to be a good number for Independence as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Independence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lacey Goodson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Goodson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmony Mills, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Liberty dropped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Independence, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Liberty, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-38 loss to Independence in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can Liberty avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
