The Southside Panthers stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Alexandria 48-18 on the road. Given Southside's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Alexandria is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Southside to victory were Laylah Davis and Grace Anne rose. Davis scored 13 points along with two steals, while Anne rose scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Anne rose is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Mallory Brooks was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Southside's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Alexandria, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
Southside will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Plainview on January 22nd. As for Alexandria, they will be playing at home against Saks at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
