The Tabernacle Christian Eagles have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They suffered a rough 65-45 loss at the hands of Northside L on Friday. Tabernacle Christian was down 53-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Tabernacle Christian still got an impressive performance from Annie Sichting, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 57.8% of Tabernacle Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Liz Southerland was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Tabernacle Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside L only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Northside L's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macy Cline, who scored 20 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Esther Moore, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Tabernacle Christian's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4. As for Northside L, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.
Tabernacle Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-55 victory vs. Seven Oaks Classical on the 10th. Northside L has also already played their next match, a 49-16 victory against Fort Wayne GUARD HomeSchool on the 10th.
