Softball Recap: Valley's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Las Vegas, Valley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Del Norte Knights with a sharp 19-8 win. Considering the Vikings have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Liliana Roybal was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Diggs, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.

Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive contests.

Valley's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-13. As for Del Norte, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-22.

Looking ahead, Valley will take on Bernalillo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.79 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Del Norte, they will challenge Hope Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
