The Bellevue East Chieftains will look to defend their home court against the Millard North Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bellevue East has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Millard North will arrive with five straight victories.
Bellevue East lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Bellevue West 91-49. While losing is never fun, Bellevue East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Bellevue West is ranked first).
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Millard North over Millard West in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Millard North came out on top against Millard West by a score of 58-46.
It was another big night for Derek Rollins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Gaeth, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Bellevue East's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Millard North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Bellevue East was dealt a bruising 68-33 loss at the hands of Millard North in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bellevue East was down 45-15.
