The Chapman Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chester Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chapman will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chapman had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 45-0 win over Crescent. Considering Chapman has won seven contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Chapman had a senior duo take command as Coleman Gray rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns and Bennett Smith picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Chapman's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Leading the way was Carson Seymour and his five sacks.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, Chester made sure to put some points up on the board against Powdersville on Friday. Chester strolled past Powdersville with points to spare, taking the game 52-34.
Elijah Coleman went supernova for Chester, rushing for 314 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 68 receiving yards. Trooper Floyd was another key contributor, throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns.
Chapman's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Chester, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Chapman has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 414.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Chester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 400.2 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.
Chapman came up short against Chester in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 33-28. Thankfully for Chapman, Zan Dunham (who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time.
