Basketball Recap: Timothy Christian Takes a Loss

Timothy Christian easily dispatched Aurora Christian on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Timothy Christian Trojans fell just short of the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes by a score of 47-44 on Wednesday. The Trojans lost against the Hurricanes in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-24 score last time.

Despite the loss, Timothy Christian still got an impressive performance from Mikyra Medlock, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 22 rebounds. Those 22 boards gave Medlock a new career-high. Maria Pozol-Neigo was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Timothy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Marian Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abbey Miner, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Miner has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliette Huff, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Timothy Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Marian Central Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-11.

The future could be bright for both Timothy Christian and Marian Central Catholic: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Timothy Christian will try to hand Rosary their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Marian Central Catholic will look to extend Aurora Christian's six-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
