LaConner is 10-0 against Darrington since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The LaConner Braves will head out on the road to challenge the Darrington Loggers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully LaConner focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, LaConner's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down Coupeville 46-32.
LaConner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shaniquah Casey led the charge by scoring eight points along with six assists and four steals. Casey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Nora Mccormick was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Darrington's three-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They came out on top against Mary M. Knight by a score of 47-38. Darrington's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
LaConner's record now sits at 9-5. Darrington's record now sits at 2-5.
Everything came up roses for LaConner against Darrington in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 69-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for LaConner since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
