The Overhills Jaguars will head out to challenge the Western Harnett Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Overhills gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against E.E. Smith as Overhills made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jordan Frink made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Kaleb Griffin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aaron Frink, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Overhills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Western Harnett hadn't done well against Union Pines recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Western Harnett sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Union Pines. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 15, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Ethan Mazurowski, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dariel Pagan, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Overhills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Western Harnett's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7.
Overhills took their win against Western Harnett when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5. Does Overhills have another victory up their sleeve, or will Western Harnett turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
