The Charlotte Christian Knights will take on the Charlotte Latin Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Charlotte Latin is ranked 136th).
Charlotte Christian suffered their biggest defeat since November 17, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-22 loss at the hands of Cannon. Charlotte Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-13.
Despite the defeat, Charlotte Christian saw an underclassman step up: Piper Fair scored three points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Charlotte Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cannon racked up 13 assists.
Charlotte Latin was handed a 25-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Charlotte Country Day School on Wednesday. Charlotte Latin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 win over Charlotte Country Day School. The win was just what Charlotte Latin needed coming off of a 70-45 defeat in their prior contest.
Charlotte Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Charlotte Latin, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Things could have been worse for Charlotte Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-31 loss to Charlotte Latin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Charlotte Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
