McKenna Chreene was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four).
In other batting news, Emily Jones was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Meredith Robinson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Northwood came up short against St. Mary on Tuesday, falling 11-1. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stephanie Ramirez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Mackenzie Jagers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Lakeside pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Northwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Northwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Lakeside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Northwood, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 strikeouts. Will Lakeside keep running through batters, or will Northwood buck the trend?
Everything went Lakeside's way against Northwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Lakeside made off with a 7-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeside since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
