The Southside Tigers lost against the Greenville Red Raiders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Southside received a tough blow as they fell 56-40 to Greenville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southside in their matchups with Greenville: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Southside saw an underclassman step up: Brendon Mathis scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Johnson, who scored eight points.
Southside has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Greenville, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Southside's road trip will continue as they head out to face Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Palmetto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for Greenville, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Greer at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th. Greer has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 348 points over their last five games.
