The Minneola Wildcats struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Ingalls Bulldogs had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Minneola took a 50-32 bruising from Ingalls. While losing is never fun, Minneola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Ingalls is ranked 113th).
Braegen Shelor and Maiya Shelor certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Shelor scored ten points along with five rebounds, while Shelor scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ingalls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooke Bailey, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Bailey continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Elly Jo Tancayo was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Minneola and nudges their season record down to 5-11. As for Ingalls, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minneola will take on Spearville at TBD on Friday. Spearville is coming into the match with seven straight defeats on the road, meaning Minneola will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Ingalls, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pawnee Heights at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Ingalls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
