The Enka Jets were the 80-71 winner over the North Henderson Knights when they last played one another back in February of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Enka took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Henderson on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sam Waddell and Hyatt Middleton certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Waddell scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Middleton scored 17 points. Middleton also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. Logan Trantham was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Enka were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Enka now has a losing record at 2-3. As for North Henderson, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Enka will take on Tuscola at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuscola is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for North Henderson, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Buncombe at 7:30 p.m. North Buncombe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully North Henderson likes a good challenge.
