Tatum (N.M.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 36-18 win over
Mountainair (N.M.).
The Coyotes scored eight points in the first quarter. Tatum scored on a touchdown pass by
Seth Slover to
Bryce North and a two-point conversion.
THS was up 22-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Slover to North in the first quarter.
The Coyotes expanded their lead to 24 points entering the fourth quarter. Tatum scored three times in the third, including once on a
Timmy Pearce touchdown run.
The Mustangs'
Korey Reese was the standout player for his team. He ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
Slover stood out for THS in the win. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The Coyotes got revenge for last year's 20-6 loss to Mountainair with the victory.
The loss was the third in a row for MHS. With the win Tatum extended its winning streak to three games.
In a non-conference game next week Tatum (3-0) takes on Menaul, and Mountainair (0-3) will go up against Melrose also in a non-conference game.
