The Langley Saxons will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Falls Church Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Langley sitting on nine straight wins and Falls Church on seven.
Langley scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 54-31 margin over Yorktown. Given Langley's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Yorktown is ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anya Rahman was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with seven steals and five assists. The contest was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicky Zawisza, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Falls Church was able to grind out a solid win over Patriot on Wednesday, taking the game 46-34.
Langley's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Falls Church's record now sits at 7-1.
Everything went Langley's way against Falls Church when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Langley made off with a 66-44 win. Will Langley repeat their success, or does Falls Church have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
