The Lakeside Panthers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Effingham County. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lakeside came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Effingham County is ranked 217th).
Lakeside's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryce Reynierson, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Ty Jones who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Grissom Jr, who scored six points along with four steals.
Lakeside has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Effingham County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.
Lakeside will be playing at home against South Effingham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Effingham County, they will head out on the road to square off against Evans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Evans knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Effingham County likes a good challenge.
