The Dunnellon Tigers had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Saturday. They managed a 54-48 win over Williston. Given Dunnellon's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Williston is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tatiana Matthews continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Matthews is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Princess Hardin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janiyah Span, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Delecia Dallas, who scored 11 points.
Dunnellon's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Williston, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Dunnellon will be playing in front of their home fans against Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Williston, they will head out on the road to take on The Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
