Midway has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Hobbton Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Midway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Monday.
Midway's and Hobbton's match was close at halftime, but Midway turned on the heat in the second half with 31 points. Midway took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 41-11 victory over Hobbton. That 41-11 margin sets a new team best for Midway this season.
Midway relied on the efforts of Peyton Herring, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kara Beth Benton, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Benton scored 15 or more points. Kyleigh Stonerock was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Midway's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Hobbton, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Midway have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Hobbton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 rebounds per game. Given Midway's sizeable advantage in that area, Hobbton will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Midway against Hobbton in their previous meeting on Monday as the squad secured a 41-11 win. Does Midway have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hobbton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
