If Jasper was riding high fresh off their 9-0 takedown of New Albany last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Heritage Hills Patriots by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Jasper got a good showing from Layla Pryor, who struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Laney Werner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Eckerle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and one run.
Having lost for the first time this season, Jasper fell to 3-1. As for Heritage Hills, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jasper will host Northeast Dubois at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Hills, they will be playing at home against Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots are facing the Hatchets at the right time seeing as the Hatchets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
