The Prairie View Buffalos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Iola, falling 56-27. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Prairie View in their matchups with Iola: they've now lost four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Iola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matt Beckmon, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Beckmon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Weide, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and seven assists.
Prairie View's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. As for Iola, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prairie View will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Adrian on January 5, 2024. Iola will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fort Scott at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Fort Scott will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
