McCamey is 1-9 against Wink since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McCamey Badgers will be playing at home against the Wink Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully McCamey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, McCamey lost to Anthony on the road by a decisive 60-46 margin. McCamey has not had much luck with Anthony recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Edgar Quinonez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jacobi Pollard, who scored five points along with five assists and five rebounds.
McCamey's lineup was just a bit different on Tuesday as Wesley Mills got a bit more time on the court (26 vs. his season average of 12.25). Mills made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Wink over Fort Hancock in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wink blew Fort Hancock out of the water with a 70-43 final score. The win was just what Wink needed coming off of a 72-40 defeat in their prior match.
Ethan Cahill went supernova for Wink, scoring 17 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cahill has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Gallardo, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
McCamey dropped their record down to 12-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Wink, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McCamey have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wink struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
McCamey ended up a good deal behind Wink in their previous matchup two weeks ago, losing 56-41. Will McCamey have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
