North Myrtle Beach has gone a perfect 9-0 against South Florence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Chiefs will square off against the Bruins at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Monday, North Myrtle Beach made easy work of Myrtle Beach and carried off a 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now won nine in a row.
Kaden Lank and Brown Reaves did most of the damage at the plate: Lank went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run, while Reaves went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Lank a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Asa Board, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
North Myrtle Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Myrtle Beach only posted a batting average of .211.
South Florence came out on top against Wilson on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Bruins never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.
Hunter White looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, South Florence let Cohen Springs and Ben Tyner run wild. Springs went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Tyner went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe McLaughlin, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
North Myrtle Beach's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for South Florence, their record now sits at 15-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Myrtle Beach has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Florence struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Myrtle Beach took their win against South Florence in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
