Basketball Recap: Wray Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wray had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Akron Rams 53-50. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Wray's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Trejo led the charge by putting up ten points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Bryson Lewis, who posted 13 points.

Wray smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Akron still got an impressive performance from Caleb Poss, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Poss has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Filla, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Wray's record now sits at 8-12. As for Akron, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Wray didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-42 defeat against Wiggins on the 20th. As for Akron, they have also already played their next contest, a 58-46 victory against Caliche on the 21st.
