The Shafter Generals are taking a road trip to square off against the Taft Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shafter came out on top against Kennedy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run second inning. The Generals' pitchers stepped up to hand the Thunderbirds a 16-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Generals sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Neveah Enriquez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Munoz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Shafter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Taft challenged Wasco on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcats have posted against the Tigers since April 19, 2023.
Rilynne Stenderup spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rylee Owens was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Addy Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Shafter's record now sits at 12-9. As for Taft, their record is now 16-5.
Shafter skirted past Taft 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
