Zanesville is 0-8 against Licking Heights since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Zanesville Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Licking Heights Hornets at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Zanesville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Zanesville came up short against Lakewood and fell 54-47. Zanesville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Rashaud Hampton, who scored 21 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Doyle, who scored 13 points.
Licking Heights was handed a three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Utica on Tuesday. Licking Heights put the hurt on Utica with a sharp 53-27 win. Given Licking Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Utica is ranked 592nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zanesville's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Licking Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Zanesville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Licking Heights in their previous matchup back in January. Can Zanesville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
