Basketball Recap: C.B. Aycock Skates Past Southern Wayne with Ease

C.B. Aycock came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 79-40 win over the Southern Wayne Saints. Given the Golden Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Saints are ranked 489th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead C.B. Aycock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Monte' Broadie, who to rack up 19 points and five steals. Broadie continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Williams, who on his way to 21 points.

C.B. Aycock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Wayne only eight offensive rebounds.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kairell Evans, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Evans is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 55% in the last eight games he's played. Demetrius Elliot was another key player, putting up 14 points.

C.B. Aycock's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points over those games. As for Southern Wayne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: C.B. Aycock beat Southern Wayne by a score of 68-51 on Monday.
