It was a good run, but New Town unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were beaten by Pikesville 73-45. New Town has struggled against Pikesville recently, as their game on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, New Town got some senior leadership from Nialah Mingo and Nasia Hart. Mingo scored 15 points, while Hart. scored 12 points.
Pikesville was led to victory by Bree Taylor and Mariah Jones-Bey. Taylor scored 16 points along with four steals, while Jones-Bey scored 27 points along with eight assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones-Bey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tykeisha Hill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
New Town's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4. As for Pikesville, their victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
New Town will take on Parkville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Parkville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Pikesville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hereford at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Pikesville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
