The Mt. Carmel Sundevils posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 77-30 win over San Pasqual on the road. Given Mt. Carmel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while San Pasqual is ranked 1079th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gianni Bernabe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Makai Orje, who scored ten points.
Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 9-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for San Pasqual, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Mt. Carmel on the road again on Wednesday and play against Westview at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for San Pasqual, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Del Lago Academy at 7:00 p.m. Del Lago Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully San Pasqual likes a good challenge.
