The Leake Academy Rebels will be playing at home against the Grace Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Leake Academy has four straight wins, Grace Christian has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Leake Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Simpson Academy with a 61-57 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leake Academy had a senior duo take command as Katye Jones scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and Olivia Rudolph dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rudolph pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anna Morgan Young, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Grace Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to Nanih Waiya back in November of 2023.
Leake Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. As for Grace Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
