Given New Kent's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Warhill is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Kent's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyle Diggs led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Diggs' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Will Ross, who scored 14 points.
New Kent pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Warhill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Kent will take on Poquoson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poquoson is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Warhill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampton Roads Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hampton Roads Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
