The Brunswick Railroaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-38 to Middletown. Brunswick lost against Middletown in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-29 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Brunswick had strong showings from Andie Welsh, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and five assists, and Gabby Stefanic, who scored 18 points. The match was Stefanic's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Maddy Hoffman was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, Brunswick were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Middletown, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brunswick will challenge Catoctin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Catoctin's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Brunswick's offense will have their work cut out for Brunswick. As for Middletown, they will head out on the road to face off against Boonsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
