The Skyridge Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Skyridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Skyridge is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lehi just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 8-1 to the Pioneers. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Hudson Ford was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge faced Herriman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Sentinels came up short against the Mustangs, falling 15-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sentinels have suffered since April 14th.
Sydney Lambert made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hanna Lino, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Skyridge's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Skyridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Mountain Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Skyridge might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Mountain Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
