The Phoenix Christian Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 59-22 loss at the hands of Northland Prep Academy. Phoenix Christian lost against Northland Prep Academy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 31-22 score last time.
Northland Prep Academy was led to victory by Nat Auker and Noe Rhon. Auker dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Rhon dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Rhon hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Scott, who scored seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Phoenix Christian dropped their record down to 6-15 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Northland Prep Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Phoenix Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northland Prep Academy, they will be playing at home against Red Rock at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Red Rock comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
