Softball Recap: Cactus Has No Trouble Against Cortez

Cactus won the last time they faced Cortez and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cobras were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Colts. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ciara Anthony made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Rhyan Enos was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mia Turner, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Cactus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cortez only posted a batting average of .118.

The win made it two in a row for Cactus and bumps their season record up to 9-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 4-10 Cortez and 4-8 Westview. As for Cortez, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Cactus has already played their next match, a 16-1 victory against Westview on the 17th. As for Cortez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-0 defeat against Verrado on the 18th.
