Tucumcari has won three straight games at home, while Santa Rosa has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Rattlers will welcome the Lions at 11:00 a.m. Tucumcari is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
Tucumcari had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Pecos on Tuesday. The Rattlers were the clear victors by a 22-9 margin over the Panthers. The Rattlers have beaten the Panthers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Tucumcari let Jadon Navarro and Pat Garcia run wild. Navarro got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Garcia went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Navarro has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jase Aughtman, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tucumcari kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 29 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Santa Rosa earned a 7-2 win over Texico on Thursday.
Josiah Barela was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Tucumcari's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Santa Rosa, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tucumcari hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Santa Rosa struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tucumcari might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Santa Rosa when the teams last played back in April. Will the Rattlers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
