Wortham is 1-7 against Mart since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wortham Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Mart Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Wortham comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Wortham suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Dawson at home and fell 44-7. Wortham has not had much luck with Dawson recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, Mart's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Marlin, falling 55-14. While losing is never fun, Mart can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1063rd, while Marlin is ranked 255th).
Wortham's loss was their ninth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-15. As for Mart, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Wortham ended up a good deal behind Mart in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 27-13. Can Wortham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
